The first voice I now crave to hear at the start of my day is that of Finnish President A. Stubb. His speeches – born of a righteous mind, deep compassion, and a fierce indignation at the wrongs of this world – awaken me. They remind me that there is still hope for justice and righteousness in humanity.

요즘 하루를 시작하기 전에 가장 먼저 듣고 싶은 목소리는 핀란드 대통령 Stubb의 연설들이다. 그의 말에는 진실된 정의로움과 고통받는 이들에 대한 깊은 연민, 그리고 도저히 용납할 수 없는 세상의 잘못된 일들에 대한 단호한 분노가 온전히 느껴지고, 그렇게 이 세상 먼 곳의 누군가가 아직 이토록 선한 경계에서 악과 맞서 분노하기를 주저하지 않는다는 사실에 내 안의 뜨거움도 함께 일깨워준다. Stubb 대통령의 영상을 볼 때면 – 여전히 이 세상에 정의와 의로움의 희망이 존재한다는 사실에 너무나 소중하고 기쁜 요즘.

차가울 정도로 냉정하고 침착하며 이성적이고 논리적이면서도, 동시에 섬뜩할 만큼 온전하게 자신 내면의 불타오르는 뿌리 깊은 분노의 불길을 – 한 치의 오차 없이 완벽하게 세상에 전달하는… 의로움 위에 단단하게 서 있는, 진실로 강한 지도자의 품격있는 설득력을 매일 보여주는 그를 통해 – 사람을 향한 기준이 덕분에 다듬어지고 있다.
